What does web design cost in Switzerland in 2026?
Market numbers first, our offer second. Web design prices in Switzerland vary widely by who builds the site, so these bands come from quotes clients bring us for comparison. They are current for 2026, excluding VAT and excluding what happens after launch.
| Project type | Agency quote | Freelancer | Subscription |
|---|---|---|---|
| One-pager | CHF 1,500–3,000 | CHF 800–1,500 | from CHF 999/year |
| 5 pages | CHF 4,000–8,000 | CHF 2,000–4,500 | from CHF 999/year |
| 10 pages | CHF 6,000–12,000 | CHF 3,000–7,000 | from CHF 999/year |
| 10 pages, bilingual | CHF 9,000–18,000 | CHF 5,000–10,000 | from CHF 1,599/year |
| Online shop | from CHF 10,000 | from CHF 6,000 | not offered |
Two things stand out. Freelancers land at roughly half the agency figure. And the jump from five pages to ten is smaller than most people expect, because the expensive part is the first page rather than the tenth. There is a fuller breakdown in our guide to website development costs in Switzerland.
Why are Swiss web design prices so high?
One number explains most of it: the hourly rate. Every quote you receive in Switzerland is an hourly rate in a costume. Learn the rate and you can price any offer yourself.
| Who does the work | Hourly rate | What it buys |
|---|---|---|
| Junior freelancer | CHF 60–90 | Template adaptation, small changes |
| Experienced freelancer | CHF 90–130 | Independent build, one person as the risk |
| Small Swiss agency | CHF 120–160 | A team, a process, holiday cover |
| Larger agency | CHF 160–220 | Strategy and project management billed alongside |
The arithmetic behind it: an honestly built ten-page website takes 40 to 80 hours across design, development, content work and project management. At CHF 140 an hour that is CHF 5,600 to 11,200, which is exactly the band in the table above. Not greed. Hours multiplied by a Swiss salary.
What pushes a quote up?
Page count is the most obvious factor and the weakest one. These four move the price far more:
- Who writes the copy. “Client supplies all text” is the biggest silent assumption in Swiss quotes. When you cannot deliver, and most businesses cannot, copywriting bills at CHF 120–180 an hour. That is 20 to 30 per cent on top, quickly.
- Languages. A second language usually adds 50 to 80 per cent at classic agencies, because they price it as a second project. It does not have to work that way. See multilingual SEO for the cheaper setup.
- Functionality. A contact form is standard. Booking systems, member areas, shops and integrations are not. Each is a four-figure line item that needs maintaining forever.
- Design depth. “Custom design” runs from an adapted template to a design system built from scratch. Ask which one you are being quoted.
What does web design cost in Zurich?
Web design prices in Zurich run 10 to 20 per cent above the national bands on this page. The reason is the reason for everything in Zurich: salaries and rent. For a ten-page business site that typically means CHF 7,500 to 14,000 rather than CHF 6,000 to 12,000.
| Project type | Zurich agency | Swiss average | Our subscription |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 pages | CHF 5,000–9,500 | CHF 4,000–8,000 | from CHF 999/year |
| 10 pages | CHF 7,500–14,000 | CHF 6,000–12,000 | from CHF 999/year |
| 10 pages, bilingual | CHF 11,000–20,000 | CHF 9,000–18,000 | from CHF 1,599/year |
That premium is not automatically badly spent. It should buy you a shorter path to the person who decides, not simply a longer invoice. More on the local market under web design Zurich and in our Zurich price comparison.
Which costs appear in no quote?
The quoted price is the visible half. The invisible half arrives by invoice in the years that follow, and that is where most website budgets quietly die. Four items are worth checking before you sign.
| Running item | Typical price | What happens if you skip it |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting and SSL | CHF 30–80/month | Nothing, until the cheap host is slow or down |
| Updates and security | CHF 600–1,500/year | Outdated plugins are the most common way in |
| Content changes | CHF 120–180/hour | Prices and opening hours go stale |
| Redesign every 4–6 years | The full price again | The part of the classic model nobody says aloud |
Add that up over five years and a CHF 8,000 website quietly becomes a CHF 15,000 to 20,000 website. That five-year total, not the quote, is the number worth comparing between offers. It is also exactly why our price sits on this page as a monthly rate: it turns the five-year total into a known quantity instead of a hope.

Pricing questions, answered
How much does a website cost in Switzerland?
Swiss agencies typically charge CHF 5,000–15,000 upfront for a 10-page business website, plus CHF 30–80 per month for hosting and CHF 120–180 per hour for changes. A Clear Design Experts subscription replaces all of that with one flat fee: from CHF 83 per month for a single-language site (CHF 999 billed annually) or from CHF 133 per month for a bilingual site (CHF 1,599 annually), with no setup cost. Monthly billing: CHF 99 / CHF 149. For the full market breakdown, see our guide to website costs in Switzerland.
Why is a subscription better than paying once?
A website is not a one-time product — it needs hosting, security updates, backups and content changes for as long as it exists. With a one-time project those costs come back as surprise invoices. With a subscription they’re already covered, and your total first-year cost (CHF 1,188) is a fraction of a typical agency project.
Is CHF 99 per month really profitable for you — what’s the catch?
No catch. We build efficiently on a proven WordPress stack (Astra + Spectra) instead of reinventing everything from scratch, and long-term subscriptions mean we don’t spend half our time chasing new projects. You get agency quality at a price that works because the model is smarter, not because corners are cut.
Can I upgrade from Essential to Bilingual later?
Yes, at any time. We translate your existing pages, set up the multilingual SEO and switch your plan from the next billing cycle. Curious what proper multilingual SEO involves? Read our complete guide to multilingual SEO in Switzerland.
Do you offer discounts for annual payment?
Yes. Pay one year upfront and Essential costs CHF 999 instead of CHF 1,188, Bilingual CHF 1,599 instead of CHF 1,788 — both save you CHF 189, roughly two months free.
What is NOT included in the monthly fee?
Your domain registration, paid stock photography or professional photoshoots, advertising budgets, and functional extensions such as e-commerce or booking systems. Everything else — design, build, hosting, maintenance, updates and content changes — is included.
