Web Design in Zurich: A Complete Business Website from CHF 83/Month

Zurich agencies quote five figures and three months. We put your business online in as little as 7 days — professionally designed, hosted in Switzerland, and maintained for you.

  • Zurich-based, English & German
  • No setup fee
  • Live from 7 days
  • Hosting & care included
Short answer

A business website in Zurich costs CHF 8,000–15,000 up front at a traditional agency, plus a separate maintenance contract. Clear Design Experts charges from CHF 83 per month billed annually. Design, Swiss hosting, maintenance and monthly content changes included. No setup fee.

Most sites go live seven working days after your text, logo and images reach us. Not seven days from signature. Where projects actually slow down is written out further down this page.

If you run your business in English: roughly a third of Zurich residents hold a foreign passport, and in consulting, healthcare and hospitality a large share of enquiries arrive in English. Our bilingual plan builds both language versions properly, with real translation and correct hreflang markup, not machine text pasted into a second tab.

What does a Clear Design Experts website include?

A website is not something you buy once and then own. It is a thing that has to belong to someone continuously: technically, editorially, and at 11pm when the contact form stops sending. These six areas are covered, all of them inside the same monthly fee.

01

Design and build

Up to ten pages, built around your brand rather than a template with your logo dropped in. You see the first draft as a real page in a browser, not as a picture in a PDF.

02

Technical foundation

Clean page structure, sub-two-second load on mobile, correct meta data and structured data. The work nobody sees, and without which nothing ranks.

03

Local visibility

Google Business Profile, Search Console, one page per service, and location worked into the text. So you appear for searches with intent, not only for your own company name.

04

Hosting and security

Hosting on Swiss servers, SSL, daily backups, WordPress and plugin updates. When something breaks, we notice before you do.

05

Ongoing care

Your content changes get done monthly: new prices, a new team member, changed opening hours. More detail under website maintenance.

06

Bilingual on request

German and English with proper translation and correct hreflang, not machine text. See multilingual SEO.

What is deliberately missing from that list: a line about bespoke digital solutions. We build company websites for small and mid-sized businesses. Well, quickly, and at a price you know in advance. That is the whole offer.

Which Zurich businesses do we build for?

The structure differs more than people expect. A law firm has to establish seriousness in three seconds; a trades business mainly has to be reachable. Both are websites. They are not the same website.

SectorWhat this clientele actually cares aboutWhat we build for it
Consulting and financeCredibility before the first call. Prospects compare three providers and decide on impression, not price.A page per service, a team with faces and qualifications, plain statements about process and cost.
Medical and therapy practicesAppointment, directions, insurance. Someone in pain does not read your practice philosophy.Booking request and phone number always visible, opening hours in structured data, directions by public transport and parking.
Law firmsPractice area and standing. Clients search by area of law, not by firm name. One page per practice area, a traceable career history, first consultation clearly defined. More under law firm web design.
Trades and constructionReachability and proof. The decision happens on a phone, often on site.Tap-to-call on mobile, reference photos instead of adjectives, service area and emergency hours stated explicitly.
Hospitality and hotelsOpening hours, menu, reservation, and all of it current.Menu as readable text rather than a PDF, reservation in one click, structured data for Google. See tourism website design.
Retail with a catalogueShow the range without running a full shop.Product pages with prices and an enquiry form. For real payment processing see e-commerce web design — that is a different project.

Your sector not listed? That means nothing. The questions in the first call are the same either way: who should call, about what, and what that person needs to know first. We work the same way for businesses in Zug and the wider region.

What does web design in Zurich actually cost?

The quote is rarely the problem. The problem is that the quote only describes the beginning. A Zurich client showed us three proposals he had collected last year: CHF 9,400, CHF 12,800 and CHF 18,000. None of the three included maintenance after launch. Two left out hosting. One listed copywriting as a line item, capped at CHF 1,500 — for a nine-page site.

So comparing starting prices helps very little. What matters is what three years cost. That arithmetic looks like this:

Total cost over three years

Worked example for a company website of around ten pages, excl. VAT

Traditional Zurich agencyCHF 17,400
Freelancer plus maintenanceCHF 9,500
Clear Design Experts, bilingualCHF 4,797
Clear Design Experts, one languageCHF 2,997
Website builder, you build itCHF 1,080

Agency calculated at CHF 12,000 once plus CHF 150 monthly maintenance. Freelancer at CHF 6,000 once plus CHF 97. Clear Design Experts at the annual price of CHF 999 and CHF 1,599. Builder at a business plan of roughly CHF 30 per month.

The bottom row is the honest one. A website builder is cheaper in francs than anything we offer, and that will not change. If you have the time and the appetite to build and maintain your own site, the maths favours you. The only questions are what your evenings are worth and whether the result holds up in a Zurich Google search.

Somewhere between those extremes the monthly model turns. From roughly year six onward, a subscription costs more than a site bought once and maintained cheaply afterwards. We say so openly, because clients work it out anyway, and because a redesign is usually due inside those six years regardless. There is a fuller breakdown of Swiss market rates in our guide to website development costs in Switzerland.

Zurich is an expensive market for professional services, web design included. That does not mean a good website has to run to five figures.

What is included in CHF 83 per month — and what is not?

The second list is the more useful one, and it is missing from most agency sites. We publish it because nearly every uncomfortable conversation after launch traces back to someone expecting something that was never agreed.

Included in the monthly fee

  • Design and build of up to ten pages
  • Hosting on Swiss servers, SSL certificate included
  • WordPress, plugin and security updates
  • Daily backups and restoration if something goes wrong
  • Content changes you send us each month
  • Technical SEO foundation: structure, load time, meta data
  • Google Business Profile and Search Console set up
  • Contact form with spam protection
  • A contact person who built your site themselves

Not included

  • Domain registration, roughly CHF 15–20 per year
  • Professional photography of your business
  • Copy written from nothing (we edit; we do not invent your business)
  • Online shop with payment processing and inventory
  • Ongoing SEO work for competitive search terms
  • Budget for Google Ads or social media
  • Custom development and integrations with your software
  • Pages beyond the tenth

A word on the copy, because it is the most common friction point. We write your pages with you and get them into shape. What we cannot do is invent what your business actually does, who your clients are, and why someone should call you rather than a competitor. Nobody takes that half hour of thinking off your hands, and not an agency charging CHF 15,000 either.

Who owns the website if you pay monthly?

This comes up in almost every first call, usually phrased carefully, and it is a fair question. With a lot of subscription providers the answer is: you own nothing. Cancel, and the site is gone; at best you leave with an export no other provider can do anything useful with.

Ours works differently, for one straightforward reason — we build on WordPress, not on a closed platform. In practice:

  • The domain is registered in your name. Not ours. You can transfer it away at any time without asking us.
  • The content is yours. Text, images, structure, all of it.
  • On cancellation you receive a complete WordPress export. It runs at any host you choose, with nothing to rebuild.
  • Minimum term is twelve months, monthly thereafter. Not an annual contract that silently renews for another year.

What you lose by cancelling is our work: updates, backups, changes, someone answering the phone. Not your website. The distinction sounds like a technicality and is in fact the entire difference between a service provider and a hostage situation.

How do people in Zurich actually find you?

One sentence up front that can save you a lot of money: your customers are not searching for your industry. They are searching for their problem, in their location.

Nobody in Zurich types “accounting firm”. They type “Treuhänder Kreis 6”, “bookkeeping GmbH Zurich price”, or “tax return Zurich English speaking”. Someone with a wrenched shoulder searches “physiotherapy Wiedikon short notice appointment”, not “physiotherapy”. A website that only names the category appears for none of those. A website that asks the question and answers it appears for all three.

That is why we ask about your neighbourhoods, your target clients and the jobs you actually want, and build the page structure from those answers. Every project includes:

  • Google Business Profile fully configured. Categories, hours, services, photos, service area. For local searches this profile often decides more than the site does.
  • A dedicated page per service rather than one combined “Services” page. Google can only rank what has its own address.
  • Location in the text, not in the footer. Neighbourhoods, neighbouring municipalities and travel routes belong in sentences where they make sense.
  • Structured data for your business — address, hours and services machine readable, so Google and AI assistants take your details across correctly.
  • Sub-two-second load on mobile, because local searches mostly happen on the move. How we get there is under hyper-local page speed optimisation.
  • Search Console set up and actually read, so that after three months there are numbers on the table rather than opinions.

That is the foundation, and it is enough for searches with clear intent like “carpenter Zurich Altstetten”. Broad, heavily contested terms need months of editorial work on top — that is our separate local search optimisation, and it is not part of the monthly fee. We say so here so it does not have to be said later.

Local searches mostly happen on the move and on a phone. Anything that is not readable there within seconds does not exist for that customer.

Is seven days to launch realistic?

Yes, and the qualifier belongs in the same sentence: the seven working days start when your content reaches us. Not at signature.

In practice it is usually two to three weeks from first email to going live, and the extra time almost never sits with us. It sits here:

What a website project actually waits on

Typical sequence for a ten-page SME project

Gathering content (you)3–14 days
Design and build (us)4–5 days
Your feedback2–5 days
Revisions (us)1–2 days
Technical go-live (us)a few hours

The red bars are yours. Anyone who has logo, text and images ready on day one really is online within a week.

The single most reliable cause of delay is photographs. Not the technology, not the design. Photographs. A business has no usable images, does not want stock, and then needs a photographer whose next free slot is in three weeks. If that sounds like you, say so in the first call and we plan around it instead of waiting on it later.

How does a project in Zurich actually run?

1

First call, 30 minutes

In English or German, online or over a coffee in town. We work out which pages you need, who you want to reach, and whether the model suits you at all. Free, and without a proposal attached.

2

First draft the same week

Not a sketch: the actual home page in a browser. Then two rounds of revisions, which in our experience is enough when the first call was thorough.

3

Launch and afterwards

We put it live, set up Google Business Profile and Search Console, and take over updates, backups and your changes. Get in touch whenever something should be different.

How is Clear Design Experts different from a traditional Zurich agency?

Custom developmentAvailable, billed hourlyNot offered. We are the wrong address for it
Online shopBuilt for youProduct pages only, no payment processing

The bottom two rows are there on purpose. Some projects genuinely belong on an hourly model, and for those you should hire an agency that works that way. If you want the longer version of how we operate and who is behind the work, that sits on our web design agency page.

Who is this not for?

We turn down roughly one first call in four, usually because one of these applies:

  • You need a real online shop. With inventory, payment processing, shipping rules and VAT logic. Different project, different budget.
  • Your site has to connect to existing software. Booking system, ERP, practice management, stock control. Integrations are development work and cannot honestly be covered by a flat monthly fee.
  • You expect substantially more than ten pages. Past roughly fifteen the arithmetic tips, and we would rather say so beforehand.
  • You want a design that does not exist anywhere yet. We build clean, fast and on-brand. We do not build award entries.
  • You need rankings for heavily contested terms. The technical foundation is included; the months of work behind it are not. That is our SEO service.

What does it cost for a Zurich business?

Essential

CHF 83 /month

billed annually — CHF 999/year

or CHF 99/month billed monthly

One language, up to ten pages. Design, hosting, maintenance and monthly content changes included.

No setup fee · 12-month minimum term, monthly thereafter · excl. VAT · see full pricing detail

Why the bilingual option is usually the right one in Zurich: around a third of the city’s residents hold a foreign passport, and in consulting, healthcare and hospitality a substantial share of enquiries arrive in English. A German-only site does not shut those clients out. It just makes the first step needlessly hard for them.

What have we built in the region?

Our work includes MET Zug AG, Alea AG and Noon Wood Work, sites doing commercial work today: findable locally, fast, and built so a search turns into an enquiry. Examples are on the home page, and we will walk you through client projects live in the first call, numbers included.

What we deliberately do not do here is print percentages without context. “+340% traffic” tells you nothing without a baseline, a timeframe and a sector. It is decoration, not information. Ask about specific cases in the call and you get both: the number and the caveat that belongs with it.

Frequently asked questions about web design in Zurich

How much does web design in Zurich cost?

Zurich agencies typically charge CHF 8,000–15,000 up front for a ten-page company website, plus a separate maintenance contract from around CHF 100 per month. Clear Design Experts delivers the same scope from CHF 83 per month billed annually (CHF 999/year) for one language, or from CHF 133 per month (CHF 1,599/year) bilingual. No setup fee.

How long until my website is live?

Seven working days from the moment your text, logo and images reach us. From first email to go-live it is realistically two to three weeks, because assembling the content takes the most time on the client side. The most common cause of delay is missing photographs.

Do I own the website if I pay monthly?

Yes. The domain is registered in your name, the content is yours, and on cancellation you receive a complete WordPress export that runs at any host. Minimum term is twelve months, monthly thereafter. We build on WordPress rather than a closed platform specifically so that exit stays possible.

What is not included in the monthly fee?

Domain registration (roughly CHF 15–20 per year), professional photography, writing copy from nothing, online shops with payment processing, ongoing SEO for competitive terms, advertising budget, custom development and integrations, and pages beyond the tenth.

Can we meet in person in Zurich?

Yes. We are based in Zurich and are glad to meet for the first conversation or at project milestones. Most clients switch to video calls after the first meeting because it is quicker, but that is your call, not ours.

Do you build in English, German, or both?

All three. The Essential plan covers one language of your choice; the Bilingual plan delivers both, with professional translation and correct hreflang markup rather than machine text pasted in. In Zurich the bilingual option is worth it for most service businesses.

Will my site rank on Google in Zurich?

Every site launches with the technical foundation: clean structure, fast load times, correct meta data, Google Business Profile and Search Console. That is enough for searches with clear intent, such as “carpenter Zurich Altstetten”. Heavily contested terms like “web design Zurich” itself need months of editorial work. That is our separate SEO service and is not part of the monthly fee.

What if I already have a website?

That makes it simpler. We redesign it on our platform, migrate your content, protect existing Google rankings with proper 301 redirects, and take over hosting and maintenance at the same monthly price. The one requirement is that we get access to the old site before it is switched off.

Who is the offer not suitable for?

Projects with a genuine online shop, sites needing integrations with existing software, presences well beyond ten pages, and clients looking for a one-off award-worthy piece. In those cases we decline in the first call and, where we can, name a better-suited provider.

Your Zurich competitors are online. Be the better option.
