Website Relaunch: A New Site Without Losing Your Google Rankings

Most relaunches go wrong in the same place: old addresses that ranked on Google suddenly lead nowhere. We rebuild your site, move your content and redirect every old URL. No setup fee, from CHF 49 a month.

Short answer

A website relaunch with us means a new WordPress site on our subscription: design, copy, hosting and maintenance for CHF 49 a month in one language or CHF 69 in two. There’s no setup fee. We move your existing content, keep the URLs that already rank where we can and set a 301 redirect for every address that changes. Prices are guaranteed for each paid period; if we raise them for the next period, you can cancel at the end of the period you have paid for.

At a Swiss agency a relaunch usually costs the full build price again, CHF 6,000 to 12,000 for ten pages, plus a new maintenance contract.

Do you actually need a relaunch?

Not every tired website needs a new one. Sometimes new copy and better photos are enough. These are the signs that the problem sits deeper:

What you noticeWhat it usually means
Nobody dares to update WordPress any moreOutdated plugins or a theme that breaks on updates. A security risk that grows every month.
Every text change costs an invoiceThe site depends on one developer or a builder only they understand.
It looks fine on a laptop, awkward on a phoneBuilt before mobile came first. Most local searches happen on phones.
Enquiries come by phone, never through the siteThe pages describe the company, not what the customer is looking for.
Your English or French version is half finishedThe second language was added as an afterthought, without hreflang or its own search terms.

If only one row applies, a refresh may do. If three or more apply, rebuilding is usually cheaper than patching. More warning signs are in common web design mistakes in Switzerland.

Why relaunches lose traffic, and how to prevent it

Google doesn’t rank your website. It ranks individual addresses. When /services/tax-advice/ becomes /tax/ after a relaunch, Google meets a 404 page at the old address and the ranking that page earned over years is gone. Links from other sites point into the void too. It’s the most common and most avoidable relaunch mistake, and the new design gets blamed for it.

The fix is a redirect map: a list of every old address and its new home, set up as permanent (301) redirects on launch day. It’s dull work. It’s also the part agencies most often leave out of the quote, because nobody sees it until traffic drops.

The relaunch checklist we work through

PhaseWhat we doWhy
BeforeExport every URL from the old site and the pages with clicks from Search Console. So we know which addresses carry rankings.
BeforeCopy texts, images, documents and blog posts, and note forms and integrations.Nothing gets lost in the move.
BuildKeep ranking URLs unchanged where the structure allows. Map the rest one to one.Fewer redirects, less risk.
BuildKeep titles and main headings of pages that rank, improve the rest.Don’t change what’s working just because it’s old.
Launch dayActivate 301 redirects, submit the new sitemap, test forms and the language switch.Google finds the new addresses within days.
AfterCheck Search Console for 404 errors for the next weeks and close any gap.Old links sometimes surface late.

A short dip in the first weeks is normal while Google processes the changes. A lasting drop almost always points to missing redirects or deleted content, and both show up in Search Console.

What a relaunch costs

The awkward truth about classic relaunches: you pay the build price again, roughly every four to six years. That’s why the comparison over three years looks like this:

Relaunch plus three years of running costs

10-page website, CHF, excl. VAT

Agency relaunch with maintenance17,400
Subscription, two languages3,384
Subscription, one language2,664

Agency: CHF 9,600 build plus CHF 2,600 a year for hosting, maintenance and changes. Subscription: plus six change requests a year at CHF 50. Assumptions in full on website cost in Switzerland.

With the subscription, the next relaunch isn’t a new invoice either. The site gets maintained and adjusted every month instead of ageing for five years and then being replaced.

What’s included in a relaunch with us

Included

  • New design on WordPress, up to 10 pages per language
  • Your existing content moved and rewritten where it helps
  • Blog posts moved, no limit on their number
  • Redirect map and 301 redirects for changed URLs
  • Shared hosting with Cyon AG, SSL, daily backups
  • Updates and repairs after updates

Not included

  • Your domain (stays registered in your name)
  • Online shops and member areas (quoted separately)
  • Keeping the old system running in parallel
  • Content changes after launch: CHF 50 per request

Website relaunch FAQ

What does a website relaunch cost?

At a Swiss agency usually CHF 6,000–12,000 for ten pages, plus maintenance. With us there’s no setup fee: CHF 49 a month (CHF 588 a year) in one language or CHF 69 a month (CHF 828 a year) in two.

Will I lose my Google rankings?

Not if every changed URL is redirected and ranking content is kept. A short dip in the first weeks is normal. A lasting drop usually means missing redirects, which Search Console shows.

Do you move my blog posts?

Yes. Blog posts are moved with their addresses or redirected, and there’s no limit on how many.

Do I need to rewrite all my texts?

No. We take over what works and rewrite pages that don’t bring enquiries. Copywriting is part of the subscription.

Can you relaunch a site built with Wix or Jimdo?

Yes. The content is moved to WordPress and the old addresses are redirected. The domain stays yours.
