Website maintenance and hosting in Switzerland

Website Maintenance in Switzerland: Hosting and Updates in One Monthly Fee

We don’t sell maintenance contracts on their own. Hosting with Cyon AG, updates, backups and repairs after updates come with every website we build and run. Content changes are CHF 50 per request. Here’s why we work that way, and what it costs compared with a separate care plan.

Short answer

Website maintenance at Clear Design Experts is part of the website subscription: shared hosting with Cyon AG, SSL, daily backups, WordPress and plugin updates, security fixes and repairs after updates for CHF 49 a month (CHF 588 a year), or CHF 69 a month (CHF 828 a year) for two languages. The website itself is included in that price. Content changes cost CHF 50 per request. Prices are guaranteed for each paid period; if we raise them for the next period, you can cancel at the end of the period you have paid for.

We don’t take on maintenance contracts for sites other people built. If you have one, we rebuild it on our setup and move your content, with no setup fee.

Being your website’s IT department costs more than it looks

Three bills

Hosting, care plan, hours

A purchased site sends three invoices every month, and the hourly one is the hardest to predict.

Updates

The update that broke the form

Plugins update, something breaks, and nobody notices until enquiries stop arriving.

Responsibility

“That’s not in the care plan”

When hosting, updates and repairs sit with different people, every problem starts with finding out whose it is.

With us, hosting, updates, backups and repairs after updates come together with the website itself, for one monthly fee and one person responsible.

Why we don’t maintain websites we didn’t build

Maintenance sounds like clicking “update”. The real work starts when an update breaks something. Then someone has to know why a plugin was installed, what the theme changes, and which custom code depends on what. On a site we built, we know that. On a site with 30 plugins from three previous developers, every update is a guess, and you’d be paying us to guess.

So we only maintain what we run ourselves. It’s a narrower offer than most agencies have, and we think it’s the more honest one. If your current site needs a reliable home, the way in is a relaunch on our subscription, where moving your content is part of the job.

Separate care plan or subscription: the monthly maths

If you buy a website and maintain it separately, three bills arrive every month: hosting, the care plan and the hours for changes. Swiss care plans for a small business site are publicly advertised at CHF 49 to 150 a month. Here’s a typical combination next to the subscription:

What running a website costs per month

Worked example, CHF, excl. VAT

Hosting, separately60
Care plan, separately100
Changes, 6 hours a year75
All three together235
Subscription plus 6 change requests74

Agency changes at CHF 150 an hour; subscription changes at CHF 50 per request; both spread over 12 months. The subscription includes the website itself. Care plan price from the middle of publicly advertised Swiss offers, July 2026.

A care plan can still be the right call: if you own a site you’re happy with, it was built cleanly and you only need someone to run updates. In that case, read our WordPress maintenance cost guide. It explains what a good plan must cover and the twelve questions to ask before you sign.

Why Cyon AG for hosting

In our Swiss WordPress hosting test we compared five Swiss providers. Cyon came out as the cleanest all-round choice for SMEs: a polished shared-hosting setup, data stored in Switzerland and support you can reach. Full disclosure, that article contains an affiliate link to Cyon, which is marked there. Shared hosting is enough for a lean ten-page site. A busy shop would need more, which is one reason shops aren’t part of the subscription.
